Sandy Wilson – the Overtures Archive

Sandy Wilson will always be remembered for The Boy Friend but prior to that he wrote a great deal for revue, a sadly missed theatrical form and one that many show writers learnt their trade.  At University Sandy wrote his first revue which came to the notice of Hermione Gingold and led to songs of his being presented in West End Revues.  Our archive follows Sandy’s writing career and includes many recordings including demonstration records for shows never produced.  What follows is a visual look at the archive from his first ever show, the already mentioned Oxford revue, to his other shows:

This is far from a complete look at our archive of Sandy Wilson’s career.  His own archive was given to the Texas University.
